Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Shivaji I, commonly known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was a Maratha monarch in India and the son of Shivaji Bhonsle. He reigned from February 1630 to April 3, 1680. The waning Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur eventually saw Shivaji carve out his own independent realm, which served as the foundation for the Maratha Empire. At Raigad Fort, he was formally installed as the Chhatrapati of his domain in 1674.

Vyankojirajah Bhonsle

A younger half-brother of Shivaji, Vyankojirajah Bhonsle (born 1632), also known as Ekojirajah I Bhonsle, established Maratha dominion in Thanjavur in present-day Tamil Nadu. He was the founder of the younger branch of the Bhonsle family, which controlled Thanjavur up until the British officially annexed the country in 1855.

Sambhaji Bhonsle

The Maratha Empire's second Chhatrapati, Sambhaji Bhonsle (14 May 1657 – 11 March 1689) ruled from 1681 to 1689. Shivaji, the progenitor of the Maratha Empire, had an eldest offspring.The continuous conflicts between the Maratha Empire and the Mughal Empire, as well as those involving other nearby nations like the Abyssinians of Janjira, the Wadiyars of Mysore, and the Portuguese Empire in Goa, greatly influenced Sambhaji's administration. Sambhaji's brother Rajaram I took over as the new Chhatrapati after his passing, continuing the Mughal-Maratha Wars.

Tarabai Bhosale

From 1700 to 1708, Tarabai Bhosale was the remarkable regent who ruled the Maratha Empire of India. She was the ruler of Rajaram Bhonsale and the daughter-in-law of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the empire. She is praised for her part in continuing the fight against Mughal domination of Maratha territory after her husband's death and for serving as Shivaji II's regent during his minor years.

Shivaji Sambhaji Raje Bhosale

The Maratha Empire was formed by Shahu I's grandfather, Shivaji I, and he served as its fifth Chhatrapati (Shivaji Sambhaji Raje Bhosale; ca. 1682–1749). He was the son of Sambhaji I and Yesubai and was a member of the Bhonsle family at birth. He was captured by the Mughals at a young age during the Siege of Raigad by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. In an effort to instigate a conflict between the Maratha factions of Tarabai and Shahu Raja, he was freed from captivity following Aurangzeb's death. Raja Shahu was declared the Chhatrapati after winning the brutal Battle of Khed.

Shahu

Shahu (also known as Kolhapur's Shahu, Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu, Shahu IV, and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj) a member of the Bhonsle family of Marathas, reigned as Raja of the Indian princely state of Kolhapur from 1894 to 1900 and as its first Maharaja from 1900 to 1922. Rajarshi Shahu was regarded as a social reformer and genuine democracy. Shahu Maharaj was a capable leader who implemented a number of progressive laws while in power. He fought for the rights of the state's lower caste subjects from the time of his coronation in 1894 until his death in 1922. One of his top concerns was providing universal primary education to everyone, regardless of race or religion.A Maratha sardar (general) named Maloji Bhosale served the Ahmadnagar Sultanate in Malik Ambar's army. He was the grandfather of Maratha Empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji and the father of Shahaji.

Shahaji Bhosale

An Indian military leader who served the Ahmadnagar Sultanate, the Bijapur Sultanate, and the Mughal Empire at various times during his career was Shahaji Bhosale (1594–1664). Shahaji, scion of the Bhonsle dynasty and former servant of Ahmadnagar, was bequeathed the jagirs (fiefs) of Pune and Supe by his father Maloji. Shahaji enlisted in the Mughal army and briefly served under Emperor Shah Jahan during the Mughal invasion of the Deccan. In 1632, he moved to the Bijapur Sultanate after falling short of his jagirs, but was able to reclaim domination of Pune. and Supe. In 1638, following the Bijapur invasion of Kempe Gowda III's domains, he was granted the jagir of Bangalore. He then assumed the position of Bijapur's chief general and oversaw the city's growth.

Jijabai Bhonsle

Jijabai Bhonsle, also known as Rajmata, Rastramata, Jijabai, or Jijau, was the mother of Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire, and lived from 12 January 1598 until 17 June 1674. Lakhujirao Jadhav, hailing from the royal family of Sindkhed Raja, was the proud parent of a daughter.

Hambirrao Mohite

The chief military commander of the Maratha monarch Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army was Hambirrao Mohite. He served as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's general after successfully leading multiple military expeditions for Chhatrapari Shivaji Maharaj.

Santaji Mahaloji Ghorpade

Santaji Mahaloji Ghorpade lived from 1645 to 1696. The sixth Sarsenapati of the Maratha Empire under Rajaram, also known as "Santajirao" or "Santaji Ghorpade," was the most renowned Maratha warrior. His name became synonymous with that of Dhanaji Jadhav, with whom he engaged in constant warfare against the Mughal Army from 1689 until 1696. Dhanaji Jadhav

Dhanaji Jadhav (1650[1]–1708) was a Maratha Empire soldier. Between 1689 and 1696, he and Santaji Ghorpade led terrifying operations against the Mughal Army. Dhanaji succeeded Santaji as the Maratha army's commander in 1696 and held the position until his demise in 1708.

Khanderao Dabhade

The Sarsenapati Dabhade family of Talegaon Dabhade's founding patriarch is Khanderao Dabhade. He was the elder of Yesaji Dabhade's two sons and the grandson of Bajaji Dabhade, who served as Shivaji's bodyguard. On January 11, 1717, Shahuji, Shivaji's grandson, bestowed upon him the hereditary title of Sardar Senapati (or Sarsenapati, Commander-in-chief, Duke).

Madhava Rao Sindhia

Mahadaji Shinde, subsequently known as Mahadji Scindia or Madhava Rao Sindhia, was a Maratha statesman and the king of Ujjain in Central India from 23 December 1730 to 12 February 1794. He was Ranoji Rao Scindia's (the founder of the Scindia dynasty) youngest and fifth child. He is credited with upgrading his army and restoring Maratha authority over North India.

Major Rama Raghoba Rane

Officer in the Indian Army, Major Rama Raghoba Rane, PVC was born on June 26, 1918, and died on July 11, 1994. Along with Karam Singh, he was the first living recipient of India's highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra.

Sharad Govindrao Pawar

Political figure Sharad Govindrao Pawar was born on December 12th, 1940 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. For four ministries, he was Maharashtra's chief minister. He formerly held the positions of Minister of Agriculture in the Manmahon Singh Cabinet and Minister of Defense in the P.V. Narsimha Rao Cabinet in the Union Council of Ministers. He created the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 1999 after breaking away from the Indian National Congress, and currently serves as its president. In the Rajya Sabha, the upper chamber of the Indian parliament, he is the head of the NCP's representation. He is the leader of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, a local political coalition centered in Maharashtra.

Madhavrao Jivajirao Scindia

Madhavrao Jivajirao Scindia served as a minister in the Indian government from 10 March 1945 until 30 September 2001. He belonged to the Indian National Congress political party.Jiwajirao Scindia, the final Maharaja of the princely state of Gwalior during the British Raj, was the father of Scindia. Following the death of his father in 1961, Scindia succeeded to a privy purse, a number of privileges, and the use of the title "Maharaja of Gwalior," all of which lasted until 1971, when they were all abolished by the 26th Amendment to the Indian Constitution.

Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan

Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan, an Indian liberation warrior and politician, lived from 12 March 1913 until 25 November 1984. After Bombay State was divided, he served as the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the final Chief Minister of Bombay State. In the short-lived Charan Singh administration in 1979, his final prominent ministerial position was that of Deputy Prime Minister of India.

Vasantrao Banduji Patil

Vasantrao Banduji "Vasantdada" Patil was a politician from Sangli, Maharashtra, who lived from 13 November 1917 until 1 March 1989. He was regarded as the first mass leader in Maharashtrian politics and the first contemporary Maratha strongman.From 17 May 1977 to 18 July 1978 and once more from 2 February 1983 to 1 June 1985, Patil presided as Maharashtra's chief minister. From 1985 to 1987, he also held the position of Governor of Rajasthan for just under two years.

Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan

An Indian politician named Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan, who died on February 26, 2004, served as Maharashtra's chief minister twice, from 1975 to 1977 and from March 13, 1986, to June 26, 1988.From 1988 to 1989, he was India's Finance Minister. From 21 June 1991 until 16 May 1996, he was India's Home Minister under P. V. Narasimha Rao. In the Rajiv Gandhi administration, he held the position of India's Home Minister from 31 December 1984 until 12 March 1986.

Patangrao Kadam

Patangrao Kadam, a politician from the Indian state of Maharashtra, died on March 9, 2018. He was born on January 8, 1944. He was from a middle-class farming family in the Sangli district's Sonsal, a tiny village. He formerly served as the Maharashtra government's minister of forests. He founded Bharati Vidyapeeth and was an advocate for education. On March 9th, 2018, Kadam passed away from renal failure at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital.

Prathibha Devisingh Patil

The 12th president of India, Prathibha Devisingh Patil (born 19 December 1934), is an Indian politician and attorney. She presided over the country from 2007 to 2012. She is the first woman to ever hold the highest office in India.She was a member of the Indian National Congress and previously held the office of governor of Rajasthan from 2004 to 2007. She also served as governor of Maharashtra from 1962 to 1967 and as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Jalgaon and Edlabad from 1967 to 1985. She was also a member of the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996 and the Rajya Sabha from 1985 to 1990, serving as its ninth deputy chairman from 1986 to 1988.

Vilasrao Dagadojirao Deshmukh

Vilasrao Dagadojirao Deshmukh was an influential politician who held the position of the 14th Chief Minister of Maharashtra on two occasions- from 2004 to 2008, and from 1999 to 2003. He was born on May 26, 1945, and died on August 14, 2012. He also held the positions of Minister of Earth Sciences and Minister of Science and Technology in the Union cabinet.

Balasaheb Vikhe Patil

Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, or 'Eknathrao' as he was commonly known, was a part of India's 14th Lok Sabha from April 10, 2002 to December 30, 2016. As a member of the Indian National Congress, he successfully represented the Kopargaon and Ahmednagar (South) constituency of Maharashtra.Later, he merged with Shivsena. He worked for the NDA as a minister. He was a well-known politician in Maharashtra and the oldest child of Vithalrao Vikhe Patil, who established the first cooperative sugar plant in Asia in the Maharashtra town of Loni. On March 31, 2010, he received the prestigious civilian honor Padma Bhushan in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the social work profession.He served as the Indian government's heavy industries minister and former union minister of state for finance seven times.

Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad

Indian politician Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad lived from May 8, 1938, to May 10, 2012.Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad was born on May 8, 1938, in Ootacamund. His parents were Maharaja Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad (reigned 1939–1951) and Maharani Shantadevi Gaekwad (died 2002), a descendant of Sardar Hausrkar Mansinhrao Subbarao of Hasur in Kolhapur. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda's Chancellor was her daughter, Mrunalini Devi PuarPuar.He also graduated from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda with a master's degree in fine arts.

Khatal Saheb

Dada or Khatal Saheb, also known as Bhikajirao Jijaba Khatal-Patil (26 March 1919 - 16 September 2019), was an Indian politician. He was a seasoned Congressman and a significant leader in Maharashtra. He held numerous Cabinet ministries in the Maharashtra Government while serving for more than 20 years as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra. He was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party and represented the Maharashtra district of Sangamner. He left politics in 1985. In the years 1962, 1967, 1972, and 1980, he was elected from Sangamner to the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha.

Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia

Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, an Indian politician, was born on January 1, 1971, and has been the country's minister of civil aviation in the second Modi administration since 2021.From 1991 until 1993, his father, Madhavrao Scindia, held this office. In the second Modi Ministry since 2022, he also serves as the Minister of Steel for the Government of India.Since 2020, he has served as the State of Madhya Pradesh's representative in the Rajya Sabha. He served as the Guna constituency's representative in Madhya Pradesh as a member of parliament in the Lok Sabha from 2002 till he was defeated in the general election of India in 2019. Eknath Sambhaji Shinde

Eknath Sambhaji Shinde is heading the Maharashtra government as its twentieth Chief Minister since June 30th, 2022. Since 18 February 2023, he has been the Shiv Sena's chairman[3].Prior to that, from 2019 to 2022, he served as Uddhav Thackeray's Cabinet's Minister of Urban Development and Public Works (Public Undertakings). Since 2009, he has represented Thane, Maharashtra's Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency in the Legislative Assembly.

Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane
